Scotland in the Fall

The Beautiful Scottish Highlands
I am very excited to be one of two international keynote speakers at the 2011 Scottish Waste and Resources Conference (http://www NULL.scotwaste NULL.org/Scotwaste/Scotwaste_Conference/sw_event2011 NULL.aspx) in Glasgow this coming October. For me it is a return visit to this prestigious event, one that I am looking forward to immensely. Scotland has been a leader in waste management and climate change, and their science-based approach to planning is something we could all learn from, in my opinion.

As well, this return visit gives me an opportunity to re-connect with some terrific people and organizations I have met and worked with in the past. In particular, I am keen to see my colleagues at the Caledonian Environment Centre (http://www NULL.gcu NULL.ac NULL.uk/environment/), with whom I have had the pleasure to work with in the UK and Canada. Together we have done waste management planning and Community-based Social Marketing training.

I am going to be talking about how Community-based Social Marketing is used to engage citizens to foster positive environmental behaviours. I will use examples from my past work in both Canada and the UK. I hope to see you there!

I better see if my tuxedo still fits. I haven’t worn it since I last attended the conference’s gala awards banquet, over 5 years ago. Yikes!
